Uwaila Stewart
Senior Student Program Associate, Multicultural Student Services Center
Uwaila Stewart (she/her) is a graduate of The George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, where she earned a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health-Population Health from Central Washington University. Passionate about community building and development, Uwaila brings her public health background to her role as the Senior Student Program Associate in the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC).
Throughout her academic and professional journey, Uwaila has developed extensive experience in program planning, implementation, and leadership. Her work included serving as a peer health educator on sexual health during her undergraduate studies, a graduate assistant with GW’s Office of Community, Culture, and Inclusion while pursuing her master’s degree, and a program coordinator with the MSSC before stepping into her current role. These experiences have shaped her people-centered approach to student support and engagement.
In her work, Uwaila strives to center individuals and their lived experiences, helping create spaces where students feel seen, valued, and represented within the MSSC and across the GW community. Her approach is grounded in the belief to “love others so radically they wonder why,” a guiding principle that informs both her work and relationships with others.
Uwaila is proudly Nigerian and originally from Piscataway, New Jersey. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and exploring new places in the DMV with her family and friends.
