Intercultural Leadership & Dialogue
The Breaking Bread Series is where real conversations happen. Hosted by the MSSC, this dialogue-based series brings students together to unpack the topics everyone’s thinking about but rarely gets the chance to openly discuss , from race, gender, sexuality, and politics to identity, culture, and current events. Offered on a monthly basis, Breaking Bread is an open invitation for students to join the conversation at any time throughout the academic year. Over food, conversation, and community, students gain the tools to navigate discussions across difference, challenge perspectives, and engage with others in meaningful ways. More than just a program, Breaking Bread is a brave and welcoming space where every voice matters, curiosity is encouraged, and students can show up authentically while connecting with others who are ready to listen, learn, and grow.
The INSPIRE Leadership Seminar is a dynamic week-long MSSC leadership experience offered during both the Fall and Spring semesters, created for a cohort of students ready to become change agents within their communities and across campus. Designed for campus leaders such as organization executives, peer mentors, resident assistants, and student staff, and open to all students ready to equip themselves with the skill sets needed for a diverse and evolving workforce, INSPIRE challenges participants to think deeper about leadership, identity, power, and community. Through interactive workshops, real-life scenarios, reflective dialogue, and courageous conversations, students gain practical tools to navigate conflict, foster belonging, and build more inclusive communities within their organizations and across campus. Rooted in the belief that meaningful leadership starts with self-awareness and collective responsibility, INSPIRE empowers students to move beyond simply holding positions to becoming thoughtful changemakers who influence campus culture with empathy, accountability, and authenticity.
