Resistance, Reclamation,
and Resilience

A South Asian Celebration

Join the university community in celebrating the history and cultural expression of the people of various South Asian countries including, but not limited to, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Republic of Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka! This year, the South Asian community of GW will uplift acts of resistance, reclamation, and resilience within South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. We will showcase South Asians’ creative and unflinching spirit in the face of discrimination, oppression, and hardship throughout the world. We aim to represent the following symbols of resistance: climate change, decolonization, female liberation, mental health empowerment, cultural vibrancy, and the fight for political rights. Inclusive and sustainable change comes from participation, discussion, and engagement. We will facilitate these things throughout the month in the celebration of our South Asian heritage.

Sponsored by: GW South Asian Society (GW SAS), GW Pakistani Student Association (GW PSA), GW Bengali Students Association (GW BSA), GW Sikh Student Association (SSA), GW Hindu Students Association (GW HSA), No Lost Generation GWU (NLG GWU), GW International Students Association, and the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC)
