Multicultural Student Services Center

Block Party 2020

September 4th through 15th

Since 2004, the George Washington University (GW) Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC) has hosted the MSSC Block Party. Faculty, staff, alumni, and students celebrate diversity traditionally gather together to join us for food, music, culture, and information sharing to welcome the Class of 2024!

More than 90 diverse student organizations and 25 departments participate annually. The National Pan Hellenic Council Greek community (NPHC), the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and Ten Cultural Performance Groups will greet you with their talent and warmth. We will share a few MSSC dance traditions and enjoy great music and fellowship to round out the day.

The purpose of the Block Party is to ensure that our first year and new transfer students feel welcomed, connected, and a strong sense of belonging to our diverse GW community. The MSSC is a physical and philosophical "Home Away from Home" for hundreds of students, and thousands of active alumni. Young people from every background and identity gives the MSSC the full range of our campus diversity, daily. Your faculty, staff, alumni, returning students, and student organization leaders will be looking to meet, mingle, and get to know you!

Block Party takes place on the first Friday of classes after students return to campus in the Fall. Due to this year's unique circumstances, Block Party will be taking place across six different days during the initial "Weeks of Welcome." We want to meet each one of you in person as soon as possible, safely. We look forward to meeting you face to face via ZOOM. So join us virtually and check out the schedule below! Remember, only in the MSSC can you say, "Zoom ya later!"
