Café Con Leche is an annual night of spoken word, poetry and song. The revolutionary voices heard will deconstruct the patriarchal and horizontal barriers present in our society. If we are here to stay, that means speaking up for and giving a voice to LatinXs, immigrants, the poor and any other group living on the margins of America and excluded from the current vision of this nation’s “greatness”. While the event is focused on Women’s issues, all are welcome!

Siempre Pa'Lante: A Panel Discussion on Mental Health

The current political climate has had a debilitating effect on the Latinx community and our mental health, yet this topic goes ignored in the multicultural community. Engage in a panel will shed light on the resources available to GW students dealing with mental health issues.

Latin American culture and history has many twists and turns to it that most people do not know about. Do you think you have the knowledge to win Latin America themed Jeopardy? Join us in a riveting game of Jeopardy!

Latin American Film Series: Wetback, The Undocumented Documentary

7pm | MSSC, Room 209

Join us as we screen Wetback, The Undocumented Documentary. The film follows several undocumented immigrants from Latin America on an extraordinary and extremely dangerous journey while attempting to cross into the U.S. and Canada. A discussion will follow centered around the importance of humanizing the Latinx immigrant experience through media.

Be inspired by the stories and experiences of racially and ethnically mixed Latinx students. We will discuss how being mixed has effected the students and the intersectionality of the different cultures, religions, genders and sexualities that each student identifies with.

Come hear from national leaders from different advocacy organizations on how we as Latinos and millennials can be more engaged through politics and can engage with our political leaders to better our communities.
